What Shepherd's have that Leaders Dont!

Take heed therefore unto yourselves and to all the flock of God, over which the Holy Ghost has made you overseers. (Acts 20:28).

All shepherds are leaders but not all leaders have a shepherd's heart. A shepherd has the heart of God for a group, a nation or a people. A leader simply leads as he is a man. A shepherd has the call of God on his life. A leader simply leads, that's what all men do. Lead! Anyone can lead, but it takes a shepherd to lead the flock of God.

God's people need a leader who leads like God. One who cares like God, one who shepherds them as the flock of God. The shepherd has the heart of a father because he has the spirit of a counselor, that's what our Father is. "Mighty, counselor, the everlasting Father" (Isaiah 9:6) True pastors are fathers, counsellor's. Its a gifting, they talk to you, reason with you and give you God given advice as from the Lord himself. If you want to lead you have to have the heart to connect, talk, lead, not as a boss but as a shepherd.

7 Differences Between a Shepherd and a Leader

1. The Shepherd guides carefully with the pace and ability of the sheep in mind.
A leader pushes his own agenda.
2. The Shepherd feeds the sheep according to the dietary needs of the individual knowing the essential ingredients each one needs in order to maintain steady and healthy growth.
A Leader simply dishes out what he himself has fed on.
3. The Shepherd leads from pasture to pasture, the journey has its danger points where the flock are exposed to predators. The slow journey is necessary and often inconvenient.
The Leader does not necessary see the benefit of the struggle. He wants to get to GO straight away unaware that the road with trials testing and proving is necessary even when its not convenient.
4. The Shepherd develops talent and gives opportunity for growth
The Leader sees his own growth first.
5. The Shepherd puts "spiritual" growth first. The person, prayer, study.
The leader emphasis the outward first, The church building. The image of the church how trendy it is, does it play the latest Hillsong music!
6. The shepherd comforts and counsels.
The Leader drives and controls
7. Shepherds have an anointing
Leaders have gifting.

To all the Pastors out there. Thank you! You're a Gift from the Lord.
